The Firewood Splitter is a critical early-game resource building which creates the Firewood necessary to prevent villagers from freezing to death and experiencing temperature-related Maladies in cold-weather conditions. Firewood is also used in the conversion process of several other resource buildings, so ensuring a steady supply is paramount to any fledgling village.
This building consumes Logs in the production of firewood, so availability of raw lumber also be tracked until the settlement has an automated supply in the form of Work Camps.
Upgrade Information
Upgrading to a Firewood Splitter Workshop confers the following benefits:
- Increased firewood production rate
- Increased firewood storage capacity
- Increased health, improving resilience against attack and environmental damage
Basic Strategy
While the Firewood Splitter is a negative-desirability building, the radius of effect is fairly small compared to most other buildings with negative desirability ratings. As such, the building is well-placed somewhere between residential districts and negative-desirability production districts.
This building should be an early target to build and staff, with only housing and wells at a greater priority.
