Peas yield moderate amounts of food in the form of dried beans, which can be stored for longer than other crops. They are very frost tolerant and can contribute to soil fertility. Peas are best grown in early spring before diseases are most active.
Farming Strategy
Peas are an excellent crop to plant when a full clover cycle in the winter is unnecessary to maintain target fertility (especially when you are supplementing your fields with manure), as they have the additional benefit of providing a harvest of greens (necessary to prevent scurvy).. Note this is only true if you have available space for them in the winter, as they do not tolerate the summer heat
